About this deal

As we’ll discuss shortly, they are basically the same. Nike Metcon 6 X aka What the Metcon aka Metcon Knows FitAtMidlife.com strongly recommends that you consult with your physician before beginning any exercise program. The Metcon 6 gave plenty of support and structure under the heel, and enough room in the forefoot for the toes to move and give the feel of the floor through the whole foot. This outsole wraps up the foot on the medial and lateral sides to protect the foot and make the shoe last longer on rope climbs, and gives added support for lateral movements.

I’m basing that on the fact that most of the shoe seems to be unchanged from last year’s Nike Metcon 5. I didn’t include a picture, but the drop-in midsole and hyperlifts appear to be the same shape, material, and performance. There are just a few small cosmetic differences. The rest of the features are pretty much the same, all the way down to the same Hyperlift insert, introduced in the Metcon 5. This adds an extra 8 mm elevation to the heels which can help when you need to propel yourself forward. In reality, the collar of the shoes sits low around the ankles as it is and adding the Hyperlift pushes your feet out of the shoes even more, which might compromise stability in some cases. The Metcon 6 is for people serious about their fitness and their strength training, who are looking for a shoe that can handle all exercises thrown at it. For the first time ever, Nike brings FlyEase tech to the Metcon line. These have laces, but you really only have to tie them once.

Nike Metcon 6 First Impressions

The Metcon 6’s come with hyperlift inserts, to put under the insole under the heel to assist with mobility and stability when squatting with weights.

I wasn’t expecting to enjoy running in the Metcon 6… but I actually didn’t mind it. For short bursts (less than 5 minutes or so at a time, the Metcon 6 is more than fit for purpose. If you’re currently using the Metcon 5 as a training shoe and wore one on each foot, I’d challenge you to be able to find many differences in the sole feel. All that said, the Nike Metcon 6 retails for the same price as the Metcon 5, meaning you get slightly updated shoes for the same price. From that perspective, the Metcon 6 is a good choice. But not for people who already have a Metcon 5. Nike Metcon 6 review: Also consider Changes in the heel are cosmetic only. The 6 has the big Metcon M and a different texture, but the TPU heel clip and relatively low collar are still present. The only reason it didn’t get a full 10/10 was its performance during a run, even a short one, as part of a workout or warm-up. The Metcon 5 felt heavy and stiff when it came to moving through the running gait. One more shot of the width difference – because that’s a big deal – if you need it. The Reebok is a Men’s Size 11, the Nike is an 11.5

Hammerhead’s HRM is designed to work seamlessly with its Karoo 2 GPS cycling computer for pinpoint monitoring when you’re out on a ride From the side you can see the rope wrap. This is where the tough rubber sole wraps up around the shoe. Great for grip on rope climbs, and it’s super tough too. This ensures the friction from the rope doesn’t destroy the upper. I wear a Men’s Size 11 (US) in all my Nike running shoes, and in most shoes from Reebok, UA, Adidas, etc. Both shoes have the same rope wrap (the part where that tough rubber outsole wraps up around the midfoot of the shoe). Shape, sizing, are unchanged.Looking around the heel we can see that the collar is much higher on the Reebok. It’s also got a lot of padding. The Reebok feels bulkier because of this. What’s on the inside? A dual density drop-in midsole is made from two different kinds of foam – one firm (heel) one squishy (forefoot). This gives you cushion where you need it. That said these shoes don’t really have any heel raise (4mm) until you put in those hyperlifts – and then they’ve got 12mm of heel raise!.This is great for minimizing ankle flexion in the pistol squats, thrusters, and really anything that requires squatting. The Metcon 6 has only one standout competitor, the Nano X, which I scored a 10/10 in my review earlier this year. If I could give Metcon 6 half marks it would be a 9.5/10.
