Description

Unfinished Business is a wonderful addition to the original Star Wars: Outer Rim set. It brings more variety, more characters, and a new layer of intrigue and action to the overall experience. Action Step – Here, the active player may perform any number of actions, including buying cards from a communal marketplace and delivering cargo and bounties. The 45 new Market cards add some interesting new items. In addition to the six new ships, there are new bounties featuring some of the original playable characters. The Cargo additions include passengers you must transport to systems as well as some items which require two destinations. For example, if you choose to get the Blaster Parts, you must deliver them to Cantonica. After rotating the card, you then take the assembled Blasters to Ryloth. There are also more cards for Jobs, Mods & Gear, and Luxury items. In addition to more encounter cards for each system, there are now encounter cards for the core. Image by Michael Knight. Star Wars: Outer Rim - Fantasy Flight Games Star Wars: Outer Rim - Fantasy Flight Games

The long-awaited first expansion for Star Wars: Outer Rim has been revealed by Fantasy Flight Games, two years after the board game first hit shelves. It’s finally time for Gen Con 2021! And while we won’t be at the event in person this year, we did still hold our annual Fantasy Flight Games In-Flight Report this week. Be sure to give it a watch over at our YouTube channel if you haven’t already done so! The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game is Fantasy Flight Games’ longest-running LCG by a wide margin. This game has been around for ten years now, and the size of its loyal fanbase is a testament to how great of a game it is. To that end, we want to introduce this fantastic card game to even more people, and so we designed the Revised Core Set. I got the same problem searching the pouch... as I took items individually they loaded (quite slowly, but it worked) excepted for 4 ambition cards.Star Wars: Outer Rim is a board game for one to four players centred around the lives of bounty hunters, mercenaries and smugglers operating in the furthest reaches of the galaxy. As one of these exiles, players will be able to explore the outer rim of the galaxy to take on jobs, hunt down criminals and embark on adventures to earn themselves renown. Fantasy Flight Games is the studio responsible for Star Wars: Outer Rim and Unfinished Business, with the company releasing other Star Wars board games such as the miniatures game Star Wars: X-Wing and Star Wars: Armada. Unfinished Business Expansion - Fantasy Flight Games

Chasing the stars can be a lonely existence for scoundrels across the galaxy. But even if you see no obstacles in your way, there are always competitors chasing your tail and trying to make a name for themselves. In the Outer Rim, safety is not guaranteed and danger lurks around every corner, and you never know who will betray you when you least expect it. Whilst characters that could only be interacted with are now playable in Unfinished Business, previously playable characters included in the core game can now be encountered within the expansion. The likes of Boba Fett and Han Solo are recruitable characters in Unfinished Business, providing new benefits to a spaceship’s captain. In the new expansion, whenever a bounty is placed on another player’s character the player who revealed that bounty can enter into combat with the targeted player to gain the associated rewards. If all the new things to see and goods to grab aren’t enough for you, then you’ll be happy to know that Unfinished Business also gives you lots of new things to do. For starters, a pile of new interactive jobs, such as Honest Robbery Sail Barge Sabotage Rebel Traitor These tokens are ok. I never really found myself trading and negotiating that much when I played. There is very little incentive to help your opponents as you’re basically helping them beat you. I’m happy they are here though as it does give you that extra option to help get out of a tight spot you find yourself in. Even after you have taken your last action, you are far from safe. The Outer Rim is full of danger and opportunity. At the end of your turn, you'll draw an encounter card based on your location. These encounter cards may provide new cargo or mods, help you make some progress on a job, or even test your skills for the opportunity to gain a huge reward.

The expansion also adds some fantastic new features that shake up how Star Wars: Outer Rim is played. With the new favors system, you’ll have even more opportunities to negotiate with your opponents. Play your cards right, and you may put other players in your debt, allowing you to call on them in a moment of need to give yourself a boost. If you and your fellow players want to change up how you win the game, you can utilize ambitions. The first expansion for Star Wars: Outer Rim will allow players to become new characters such as Chewbacca. Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce Star Wars™: Outer Rim, a game of bounty hunters, mercenaries, and smugglers for one to four players! Highly Skilled (you have the skill more than once): You need at least one critical hit, hit, or focus to pass. This new standalone scenario gives us our first look at the city of Arkham in different time periods. Investigators must jump between the 1890s, the 1920s, and the 1950s as they try to solve a mystery of scientists disappearing throughout time. Machinations Through Time is the next in line of our special Gen Con scenario releases, similar to The Blob That Ate Everything and War of the Outer Gods. Like those two scenarios, Machinations is compatible with epic multiplayer mode, which means players can work together with other teams to solve this chronological caper. This standalone scenario will hit stores in the first quarter of 2022.

Star Wars: Outer Rim is finally getting its first expansion

It may be just a modified YT-1300 light freighter for now, but complete the ship goal and you could be flying the Millennium Falcon ! Planning Ahead The wonderful part of Unfinished Business is that it brings in even more unknowns to the board game’s original set. You get to choose from more unique characters, which expands the universe quite a bit. There are eight new characters introduced with this expansion. That’s a fair number of new characters in a crowded room of cool characters to choose from. More the merrier. As we mentioned in an article last week, KeyForge is going on hiatus with a planned relaunch alongside a digital version of the game in the future. In the In-Flight Report, we gave a sneak-peek at the game’s sixth set, Winds of Exchange. Towards the top left of this card and stretching across the top to the middle is the fame meter. Before the game begins, players must agree on how many fame points it takes to win the game. You can play a game up to 12 but let me tell you that you are looking at 5+ hours of game time for that amount of fame. When you complete jobs, bounties, or deliver cargo, you maybe have the opportunity to get additional fame points. This all depends on the card you get. The goal of the initial game is to reach the fame point limit. It’s a tough road to climb when there is a large number of fame points set. The first game in the newly-rebranded Terrinoth Legends universe, Descent: Legends of the Dark is the largest single project ever produced by Fantasy Flight Games. And it’s just getting started! The original bounty tokens in the main game were green and yellow and only accessible when you land on planets. Now, Unfinished Business puts the third token in play with an orange token that is only accessible when you land on a planet because it lies on a planet. The original two tokens laid beside the planet, but this one guarantees an encounter of some sort when you land on a planet. It still hides the tokens, in case you’re hunting a bounty, but it makes the token discovery experience far less empty. I only say empty because I didn’t know how good it was until it was included. The more bounties and potential crew, the better.

The expansion of the game, Unfinished Business, allows for players to add larger goals to their galactic adventure, such as becoming a Crime Lord. With that addition, the player must achieve goals that will lead them to one final reputation. Each reputation card in the expansion has a different set of goals that must be accomplished to retain the moniker the player was shooting for in the game. This addition is wild, and it adds a bit more content to the final experience. This was one of the cooler more personal parts of the Unfinished Business expansion. Once you have your new ship, you’ll need some things to fill it with. Fortunately, this expansion provides plenty of new gear, cargo, mods, and jobs for you to experience! Many of these cards have two assets: one on each end. These “rotating assets” have special features or represent 2-part tasks, and the rules for rotating them depend on the cards themselves. For example, the Bowcaster Astromech Droid Parts Custom Paint Job Star Wars™: Outer Rim is the boardgame of bounty hunters, mercenaries and smugglers for one to four players. Take control of one of eight iconic Star Wars scoundrels and gain fame by delivering illegal cargo, hunting down bounties, and more! What stories await you on the Outer Rim? Turns continue until one player reaches ten fame, at which point they become a living legend and win the game! Star Wars: Outer Rim – Unfinished Business is the expansion for the main game. This expands the original game with new characters to choose from, adding previously mentioned monikers and goals to shoot for, and provides an easy getaway from organization starships that you might run into along the space path. This also provides more detailed missions, more bounties, more ships, and more goodies in the market. It’s a great expansion and stays true to enhancing the experience and making it more than just another Star Wars game. That said, let’s break it down a bit.During the planning step, Lando's drawn AI card tells him to do the first action that applies. The first listed action would allow him to recover all damage if he is defeated, but since Lando is still standing, he ignores it. The next action tells him to move towards the closest goal, which definitely applies. Lando has some cargo to deliver on Ryloth, so he moves three spaces to end his planning step on the planet. He follows similar directions for the action and encounter step. Once his cargo is sucesfully delivered, the goal token is removed from the planet. The base game for Star Wars: Outer Rim already had a plethora of iconic characters in its playable roster, and Unfinished Business rounds them out even further. Where characters like Chewbacca Dengar Hera Syndulla Cad Bane Can you believe it’s already been five years since Arkham Horror: The Card Game first launched? This game has been going strong all this time and it’s not slowing down anytime soon. We had two big announcements for Arkham LCG in the In-Flight Report, with the first being Machinations Through Time.
