There’s beauty in them too, of course. This is far from one of the PS4’s best-looking games, but there are plenty of grand vistas that act both as eye candy and a way to stop Bloodborne’s oppression from weighing too heavily. It’s a dungeon crawler in some respects, but its environments are as often epic as claustrophobic. From Software has been very careful about that particular balancing act. So exactly how hellish is Bloodborne? You’re a lone warrior, a hunter who wakes up in a town where everyone not shuttered away has been infected by a lycanthropic disease. Not a member of the Twilight fans’ support group? This means werewolves. The first enemies you’ll meet are the townsfolk in the early stages of the transformation. If the trailer shown at the Game Awards does end up being Bloodborne 2, this is perhaps a good sign that it’ll be a multi-platform release since it was shown here rather than the PlayStation Experience which takes place in the same time frame. That does, of course, depend on this trailer being for Bloodborne 2 which we can’t confirm just yet.

However the game finishes strong with Logarius, Amygdala, Mergo's wet nurse, Yarnham (if you skip the mundane chalices and go straight there with the 3aqbyx95 chalice), German and Moon Beast are a great final section to the game to make up for the sub par mid game. Although I enjoy a fleshier story that doesn't always have me guessing where the hell I'm going and why, but that's the draw for these games I suppose. Now that you're armed, you can exact vengeance on the lycanthrope that likely killed you in the opening moments of the game. But that's not the only tough adversary that awaits you; there are plenty of other tough combatants you'll be fighting relatively early in your adventure. While the narrative may be a complicated and messy beast, there's clearly a consistent premise throughout the game. Men, tainted by unholy blood, have started to turn into horrific beasts, losing their minds and humanity in the process; different locations, while all truly desolate by their own design, carry this theme and establish themselves as part of the game world. Enemies are similar looking, but somehow totally different, and as you progress, the world evolves and morphs to the point where you can return to an earlier area, but it won't quite be the same. The first week when I got this I totally got caught in the hype surrounding the game; it is a From game and one of the first titles this gen to actually be excited for. I played it and loved every minute of my playthrough. But when I was finished, and some time had passed, I realized that although this game is the best so far on the PS4 (alongside Diablo), it's isn't as good as I made myself believe.

The game is an Action RPG with focus on strategic combat choices, offering melee and ranged mechanics and replacing magic with gadgets and an arsenal of weapons. The game performs at 30fps/1080p, with character customization, online components and otherwise similar mechanics to that of the Souls series. How to join: Successfully complete Eileen the Crow’s questline, beginning outside the Cathedral Ward where she can be found overlooking the balcony. Open the shortcut between Grand Cathedral and the Cathedral Ward lamp, then talk to her. She will mention hunting a mark. Return to Hunter’s Dream, and travel by foot from the Cathedral Ward lamp to the Tomb of Oedon. Note: The lamp will not work if Eileen is hunting her mark. Once there, help Eileen kill her mark, then meet Eileen after defeating Rom. Go to the Cathedral Ward lamp by foot, and help Eileen kill another mark. Nevertheless, repetition is on the Bloodborne menu, along with the blood of your sworn enemies. (How appropriate, given the game's Biblical subject matter: you drink their blood in remembrance of their sacrifice.) From Software continues to break the rules of video game adventuring to fantastic effect, killing you again and again, and inspiring you to venture into the same territory in hope of regaining the blood echoes that stain the ground where you lost them. You cannot always retrieve them through a stain, however: Sometimes, you must defeat the creature that previously bested you if you want your precious blood echoes returned to you. Otherwise, those echoes are lost to the digital ether--and so the story goes, forcing you to choose whether to press onward and risk losing your souls so you can see the next imposing vista, or to settle for the ones you have and return to Hunter's Dream, and allowing the game to gain the upper hand in your precarious partnership.

But my biggest problem with Souls, is no pause menu to begin with, and that's never a positive for me, I have a son who may require my attention, and the fact I'm forced to play offline, as to stop anyone jumping into my game, and killing me for no other reason than to be a c**t. Ingredients: Ritual Blood (4) x9, Bastard of Loran x2, Blood Echoes x5500, Arcane Haze x22 How to obtain: Defeat Lower Pthumeru Depth 3 Layer 4 Boss. Effect: Creates a 4-depth dungeon in Pthumeru. True ending: Collect all three of the “One Third Of Umbilical Cord” pieces. The first piece is obtained by killing Mergo’s Wet Nurse. The second piece can be found in the Abandoned Old Workshop. The last piece is obtained by saving Arianna. She will then give birth to a child in the Tomb Of Oedon sewer. Go to the Cathedral Ward, climb down the ladder, and kill her baby. Afterwards, kill Iosefka in her clinic, which is located in the area where the game began. After all three pieces are acquired, consume them before refusing the final offer. Hunter Blunderbuss -- This functions like a shotgun, meaning that its range is poor but can hit multiple targets at close range. It's also more potent against a single target when you're even closer. Note that a single shot only requires one bullet.
