Glenfiddich is a renowned single malt whisky distillery in Dufftown, Scotland. Glenfiddich means "valley of the deer" in Gaelic. The Glenfiddich distillery was founded in 1886 by William Grant. For my tastes Glenfiddich really hits its prime between 14-18 years and in the rare occasions you can get it at cask strength in that age range it’s stunning. I’ve harped on the 40% thing a lot lately while tasting through a bunch of Glenfiddich, but that’s because I know what Glenfiddich can taste like when it’s not neutered. Expressions like this Glenfiddich 21 just don’t do this lovely spirit justice.

Rather than competing directly, Glenfiddich concentrated on single malt sales and in 1963 became the first Scotch whisky to be marketed as such, flying proudly in the face of critics. The gamble paid off, and eleven years later sixteen new stills were installed to cope with demand. You are responsible for all activities through your account. Our Service is an online platform which provides Members with information (e.g. bottle facts, market-indices, market values and prices) on (mostly) whisky and allows Members to add information to the platform. Having let it sit there for five months with (I suppose) different ambient temperatures to wherever it came from, it was as described and was very smooth - like drinking mineral water would be the mot juste - and a great celebratory day for all concerned. Glenfiddich single malt is one of the most successful and well-known whisky brands in the world. The Glenfiddich distillery produces a wide range of whiskies, including the Glenfiddich 12-Year-Old, Glenfiddich 15-Year-Old, Glenfiddich 18-Year-Old, and Glenfiddich 21-Year-Old. Distilled by Glenfiddich and matured for 21 years, this bottling from the brand features a Caribbean rum finish. The duration of the finish isn't disclosed and it's bottled at 40% ABV. Let's dig in.

12 Year Old

I don’t get any of the supposed elegance of the Glenfiddich 21. To me it comes across as rigid and neutered. From aroma to finish it’s watery and understated in a way that makes it boring. It would make an impressive gift, but that’s about it. Fruit, honey, citrus peel, malt, butterscotch and a light bit of wood and brown sugar. It’s an ok aroma, but nothing exiting. Malt driven and fun, plenty of character here. Sweet cream, honey, apple crisp, a touch of sweetness. I don't notice a ton of rum on the nose, but hopefully it's a bit more present on the palate. We may, but are not under any obligation, to release new functionalities and tools or other features for the Service every now and then.
