About this deal

I did this on a few items in my system which consists of three AX92u’s with stationary equipment that does not need the benefit of mesh handoff moving around the property such a desktop computers, wifi printers, thermostat, a split system in a garage, etc.. My problem is that I can’t figure out why the reported negotiated speed is not reporting as 1.2 or 2.4gbps on my laptop, but instead fluctuating so wildly. The base of the device has the largest ventilation panel of all, you can clearly make out the metal internals that contains an impressively sized heatsink, in lew of an active fan and cooling system. This is assisted by the generously sized rubber feet, that lift the device a noticeable degree to facilitate airflow.

At its core, the RT-AX92U is like any other Asus router. You can set it up using its web user interface or the Asus Router mobile app. As for performance, we were able to get some great numbers out of the AX92U. Starting with LAN at 941Mbps, we followed that up with 5GHz performance reaching 447Mbps with 80MHz and 898Mbps at 160MHz. The performance wasn't quite as good as the standalone AX88U or the monster ROG unit but did show better range performance using two nodes. By the way, it doesn’t seem to matter if QoS is on or off–it makes zero difference for the wired ports. So I hope the GT-AX11000 is (much) better and I can use one of the RTs as a mesh point! Reply

So I’m interested in this model and wanted to know the best way to set it up with my current network. Currently I have ATT gigabit internet and have the BGW210 Modem/Router. I’m looking to add the RT-AX92U to the setup and I’m wondering if it’ll be any better for performance if I use the BGW210 in bridge mode (aka passthrough in the router settings) or if I just setup the AX92U as an access point. I ask because if I use it as an access point, it seems I will still get coverage from the original router (which is in my bedroom) which would help cover that side of the apt. Your content is amazing! I am now using it as my primary method of research on my hunt for a new network setup. I have a few questions because after reading your articles I have realised my initial plan won’t work.

The router comes with the usual one Gigabit WAN port and four Gigabit LAN ports despite the small footprint. It even has room for two USB ports to host storage, printers, or a cellular modem. I'm suggesting that what you think is "obvious" isn't obvious to everyone. And to say that, actually, it comes across as a bit condescending. I’ve given up and boxed the 88u as it seems that’s the problem. ASUS support is awful. They couldn’t resolve the issue, the most they advised was factory reset and then told me to return the unit. So that’s what I’m doing. So far (first day without the 88u) all is stable with just the two 92u routers in a mesh. We have torrents running, xboxs via ethernet, wifi 6 phones, wifi 5 laptops, wifi 6 desktops, old 2.4 ghz smart devices and printers. A mish mash of about 20 devices and this router delivers top tier performance every time. If you think the RT-AX92U is cute, that's not an exaggeration. After a lot of firmware upgrades, this has increased the coverage of my network, and has been pretty reliable, to tell the truth. As a result, the speed of some “spread out” devices has also increased (because of the mesh), and that’s good. I’m thinking about using my current single RT-AX92u wirelessly meshed with a tri-band RT-AC5300. Any comments or concerns regarding this setup? The physical chassis design of the RT-AX92U is quite low, with more than half of the height of the device dedicated to those antennae, the rest of the router build in surprisingly petite. One side of the device (it doesn’t really have a ‘font’ so to speak) features multiple LEDs that, outside of the mobile or desktop app, are your means to knowing the health of your connection. As you would expect, some of the LEDs are just there to show the device is powered on and that you have an internet connection. The others are a little more router specific, with the 6 LEDs showing: The LAN was phenomenally slow whenever a wired connection was involved, both on transferring files (wired to wired in the network, not internet, and wired to wireless!). The router reports 1GB connections on the wires, but they aren’t running anything like that. Oddly, it also reports a 100mb connection *on an empty port*. I assumed that was a firmware glitch, but maybe it’s more significant than that…

I’ve currently got a Linksys EA9500 that covers the majority of my 5k SqFt home due to the central location that the router is located (there are a few dead spots, but I can mostly live with these). Fixed DoS vulnerability from spoofed sae authentication frame. Thanks to Efstratios Chatzoglou, University of the Aegean, Georgios Kambourakis, European Commission at the European Joint Research Centre, and Constantinos Kolias, University of Idaho. The actual transfer speed of USB 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, and/or Type-C will vary depending on many factors including the processing speed of the host device, file attributes and other factors related to system configuration and your operating environment.

My other laptop is connected to 5GHz-1 and it reports negotiated speed of 866mpbs with no fluctuation You can raise these antennas upward for better coverage or collapse them on top of the router to make the whole thing even more adorable. Either way, the router works. By the way, the router is wall-mountable, which is always a nice touch. A little tri-band powerhouse Support IPSec IKE v1 and IKE v2, and you can use the Windows 10 native VPN client program to connect to the router's IPSec VPN server.
