If you're in the market for a new, good-looking PC case then there are quite a few options out there right now, but NZXT is hoping you'll choose its new H5 Elite case. Sadly, you'll need to connect the fans to your motherboard as there's no way to add them to NZXT's CAM software unless you use one of its motherboards. With the H5, NZXT has focused on improving thermal performance and allowing for better cable management, without needlessly changing the overall look. The roof has space for a pair of 120mm fans, which are not included and neither is a rear fan for the 120mm mount there, which is a shame as it will certainly aid CPU air coolers. Temperatures in games were several degrees cooler with the same hardware in the H5 Elite than similar cases I tested recently, including NZXT's own H7 Flow.

For testing, I turned to my trusty 3700X, 3070, and 32 GB RAM build combo, with two NVMe drives installed into the motherboard. If you want to install a radiator you can use a 240mm model in the roof while 280mm models can fit in the front of the case.Other features that put the H5 Elite above the H5 Flow are the built-in RGB controller and three included fans: two larger F140 RGB and one F120Q fan. The three provided fans are already installed in the H5 Elite, with two 140 mm RGB fans in the front and a 120 mm fan in the bottom.

Put simply, I’d say the Elite is tailored to those who have aesthetics as a priority, while those obsessing over temperatures will be better off with the Flow. Following the refresh of its H710 lineup that resulted in the new H7 series, NZXT has now taken aim at its H510 range of cases.Overall, the H5 Elite is a worthy refresh to a case that became incredibly popular with those looking for performance without compromising on aesthetics. While I’m sure this is at least partly inspired by its own NZXT BLD pre-built service, enthusiasts and newcomers outside of the company can also benefit from the generous room for cable management. The fan is designed to point at your graphics card, channeling cool air in from the bottom of the case and rather than just pointing it in the rough direction of your graphics card like other intake fans, this one shoves it straight into your graphics card's cooler to boost cooling. This can alter the color of the lighting rings on the fans themselves to a number of effects as well as a static color of your chosing.

The H5 Elite has a removeable roof dust guard that's held on with magnets with a slide our guard protecting the base of the case. Though this review is for the H5 Elite, I think it’s worth quickly mentioning the Flow version of H5.As expected, though, the CPU temperature using an air cooler was a couple of degrees higher thanks to the case not including a rear fan. For those adding extra fans or other RGB components, the H5 Elite includes an RGB controller that supports up to three connectors. If you don't need the RGB lighting then the cheaper H5 Flow is a better bet, although it only includes two fans with one of those in the base angled at your graphics card.

Currently 510 Elite is on sale for 80 compared to 95 for H5 Flow, I’m leaning to the H510 elite but mostly worried about the airflow, is it a non issue or something to watch out for? Gen 2 port and unlike many other RGB lighting-enabled cases, there are no physical buttons to control the lighting here. It’s similar in style, keeping the fan-favorite cable management bar and much of what made the H510 such a popular choice. NZXT has taken the bold move of ditching storage space in favor of better graphics card cooling and ultimately that can help keep your hardware running cooler and quieter.

Cable tidying is excellent, though, with plenty of channels for stowing cables as well as Velcro ties. The down side is that this is the prime location often used in other cases for storage hard disks and as a result, the H5 Elite only supports a single 3.
