These scabs came up over 24hrs on an area he has never had this before, it spread up and down both hinds.For me though I just empty a bit in a wide shallow bucket, place a sponge in there and rub that in on my horses feathers then work it in with my fingers. i use pig oil and sulphur and i think that this deters the condition but you need the initial frontline treatment. I'm eternally grateful to TheresaF on here for her copious notes about the use of this, it has made winter a lot easier for us personally. In my opinion nothing other than tested equine products should be used on horses, that includes pig oil, skin so soft etc.I was told just yesterday that the pig oil will drown the mites and that the sulphur will burn off any that have been missed! i knew a girl that used pig oil on her welsh to make it look shiney at shows and never affected it maybe just your horse has sensitive skin and this product just doesnt agree with him.
