What do you think readers love about your books?Shipyard Girls in Love” is the fourth novel in the “Shipyard Girls” series and was released in the year 2017. Sunderland in 1941. With a minor break in the air raids that provide a much needed break from the war, things look up for Rosie, who’s fallen head over heels for Detective Sergeant Miller. However how long could their romance last in these uncertain times? I had a similar, ‘Who do you think you are?’ moment when I learnt more about the men in my mum’s family, who were all shipyard workers and were well known. There’s even a large placard in the Sunderland Museum showing five generation of Revells, most of whom worked as platers. I already knew that my grandfather had died tragically in a shipyard accident when a large metal plate fell on him, but I hadn’t realised that my great grandfather had also died in an identical accident.

There are also a lot of characters so the author does bounce you around a lot along with all the grittiness.Rosie is flourishing in her role as head-welder while still keeping her double life a secret. But a dashing detective is forcing Rosie to choose between love and her duty.

And the shipyards are proving tougher than Polly ever imagined, while she waits for her man to return home safely.

It’s the end of an era with Three Cheers For The Shipyard Girls– the last book in the series! How did you feel when you were writing it? It must have been a very emotional experience…. Against all odds, Polly's fiancé has finally returned home from the front line. If they can keep things on an even keel, she might get the winter wedding she's always dreamed of. I have recently discovered gardening – something I used to avoid like the plague. I’m a convert and now bore anyone who will listen to me about how wonderful it is to be out in the fresh air, pulling weeds, and creating something with my hands instead of my head. The Shipyard Girls start off as strangers - but end up forging an unbreakable bond of friendship in the most difficult times.
