For the frosting, to fit the lemon theme a bit more, I did a lemon buttercream frosting. I love a light lemon buttercream, and when you make a super whipped buttercream frosting it is glorious. These little beauties are cute, fun, and so easy to make. They are perfect for any street party or celebration for the coronation in a few weeks time, enjoy! Coronation You could use these activities to get children to understand how the King might be feeling in light of the upcoming coronation when writing letters. This will enable children to explore PSED as they engage in literacy.

Or you can even jazz it up slightly and use my gin & tonic traybake– or even my chocolate orange traybake cake. The little cases are so cute, and they are a self contained portion of cake that you can simply place onto a large flat baking tray, portion the cake mix into the cases, and bake. From mugs and plates to tea towels and tins, there really is something for everyone to help celebrate the coronation. Expect bold colours, intricate designs and statement text that all come together to make for truly stunning commemorative pieces. Literacy is a topic that lends itself quite nicely to various themes. See below for some of our suggestions on how to incorporate the coronation into literacy: Why not put your little ones to the test with a relay race – but not any old relay race… In honour of the coronation, why not challenge your little ones to race as fast as they can whilst balancing paper crowns or plastic crowns on their heads! This will not only inject a more exciting element to a great team activity but it will support balance and coordination. For this year’s celebrations, Asda is rolling out a new range of bakery products that are truly fit for royalty. From reimagined classics such as the cake jar to new products like the crown-adorned crumpets, there’s a bakery treat for everyone to enjoy on the big day.

Emma Bridgewater has launched a kitchenware collection to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III. And, the brand has just announced a 30% discount on the range!Step 2 For the cake, using a freestanding mixer, or a handheld electric whisk and a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 5min. Gradually beat in the eggs. If the mixture looks as if it might curdle, beat in 1tbsp of the flour. Beat in the vanilla bean paste.

Whether you’re planning a large street party or just a lowkey shindig with friends, there are a few things that you need to make the event extra special. For example, what to wear to a street party is something you should be looking at.

For the cake I decided to stay super basic, and go for a popular sponge base. My school cake sponge is always very popular as it’s a basic sponge, and I add vanilla to it. This is of course optional, you can flavour it any way – but I went vanilla. For an even better way to find KS2 resources, discover tailored suggestions, and much more - visit the KS2 resource HUB! GO TO KS2 HUB The coronation oath is said by the new King and includes them swearing to govern faithfully with Justice and Mercy. 3. Get active! If you don’t have time to close the road by speaking to your local council, you can run what is called a ‘Street Meet’, says A Plan Insurance. So, if you live in a cul de sac, "councils are generally happy for this to go ahead without permission". If not, use your driveways, parking areas and front gardens. After all, none of these will require council permission - and should be problem-free as long as you "don’t obstruct pavements". Where will the Coronation happen? As I wanted this to be slightly different to the other traybake recipes on my blog already, and I really wanted to make something light and delicious, I used whipped cream. This consists of double cream, icing sugar and a little vanilla to flavour the cream, whipped to peaks and then spread and piped on.We all know and love cupcakes, and loaf cakes, but why not combine the both?! There is something special that I adore about mini loaf cakes, and I just want to keep on baking them over and over. Sugar – I used caster sugar as I wanted the colour and flavour to stay light, but you an swap it to light brown soft sugar if you want a more caramel flavour naturally. For the decoration, you can have some fun. I purposely used the same piping tip but decorated my mini coronation loaf cakes in different ways to give a fun look, but anything works. I find it best to put all of my frosting into a large piping bag and then decorate away.
