The single core performance was also very mighty, and this of course explains how the 12400 beat the 5600X. Here we're looking at a 12% improvement in performance. The big improvement when compared to 11th-gen though is the power consumption. For the same level of performance, the Core i5-12400 reduced total system consumption by 28%... and that's total system power consumption, not just CPU power. The Core i5-12400F is my new go-to budget CPU and we hope to see some nice budget B660 boards available soon! Shopping Shortcuts:

Bear in mind that faster completion times and lower task energy are ideal. That means processors that are closest to the bottom left corner are best. It's easy to see that Intel has made a massive generational improvement here; the Core i5-12400 is far more efficient than the 11400. The Horizon Zero Dawn results aren't that favorable for the 12400. That said it's worth mentioning that if we were to use the ultimate quality setting the game is entirely GPU limited and this normalizes CPU performance, seeing the 5600X and 12400 matched, even with the 6900 XT at 1080p. But with the dialed down 'favor quality' visual preset the game becomes more CPU limited in our test conditions and this saw the 5600X up to 21% faster with the 12600K up to 17% faster. I was impressed by the cooling potential of the 700D Airflow, which can accommodate up to three 360 mm radiators. This means that even under heavy loads, my system stays cool and running smoothly. Unlike the standard Ryzen 5000 models, the Ryzen 5 5600G APU does come with integrated graphics. This Cezanne APU pairs six Zen 3 execution cores with the Radeon Vega graphics engine for iGPU-powered gaming rigs. As a result, this APU is the best value on the market if you're looking to game at lower resolutions without a discrete GPU. But aside from gaming on the iGPU, it can't compete with the Core i5-12400 and comes at a higher price point. Now it's time for some gaming benchmarks and we'll start with F1 2021, using the second highest quality preset at 1080p and the Radeon 6900 XT.

The TDP of the Core i5-12400 is an excellent way to determine the power supply's wattage requirement. The TDP indicates the CPU's power to draw under a heavy load at its max base speed. Too low of a wattage rating in a power supply can result in power throttling, which can cause the CPU to slow down, impacting performance. It's also important to note that the TDP only represents the CPU's power consumption, and other components, such as the graphics card, RAM, and storage devices, also require power.

Processor Graphics indicates graphics processing circuitry integrated into the processor, providing the graphics, compute, media, and display capabilities. Processor graphics brands include Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics, Intel® UHD Graphics, Intel® HD Graphics, Iris® Graphics, Iris® Plus Graphics, and Iris® Pro Graphics. See the Intel® Graphics Technology for more information.
