Becoming Alpha has a sequel due in a few months, Avoiding Alpha that is now highly anticipated by me.

Tessa, as introduced, was a bit conflicted and unsure of her ability and was actually pretty fun to read about.

She knows there are a lot of subplots to be resolved in the story still and she can always integrate another big bang at the end of book two. but that's how the book is intended to be so not a complaint so much as a comment letting others know. There were a lot of layers going on that went way beyond mere physical attraction, and I really liked that. I found her relationship with Dastien really cute and loved that he wasn't the perfect boyfriend who did everything right all the time.

Looking at it objectively, Becoming Alpha is nothing special with a Mary Sue MC, instalove and stuff. I loved Tessa and found witty sense of humor endearing and her not as annoying as some of the heroines in previous books I've read, who did nothing but sit around waiting to be rescued. The general plot is similar to others including the typical love interest, but once you get into the story and dig deep inside the web Aileen spun for the audience, there are so many details that set this novel apart. There's a lot about this book to both like and dislike, hence the 3 stars, it was a good idea and had potential and I enjoyed a lot of it but I found it overlong at times and a bit slow and plodding in places. Let’s be honest with ourselves, sex, partying, experimenting, and angst, are for most teens, part of growing up, even in a paranormal world.
