About this deal

National Book Award winner Jacqueline Woodson has created a poignant, yet heartening audiobook about finding courage to connect, even when you feel scared and alone. The author also liberally sprinkled the text with exclamation marks which after a while began to grate somewhat as I felt that they were unnecessary. She is uniquely positioned to highlight the importance of wellbeing at work, as she draws upon her professional and personal experiences. She grew up in the infamous Children of God cult and so her first-hand experiences of trauma, struggle and overcoming make her uniquely positioned to highlight the importance of mental wellbeing both at work and in our personal lives. I was expecting a practical guide to being able to harnessing my wellbeing and mental health at work.

The matte-finished pages feature illustrations in vivid, brilliant colors, with repeated appearances of flying birds and lush, twining vines and flowers. With nearly 100,000 copies sold, Boundaries: Where You End and I Begin has already helped thousands of readers stand up for themselves and nurture healthier relationship.

Her passion is focused on helping others and her approach comes from a place of lived experience - an experience that she shares so transparently and unabashedly. Woodson’s lulling free verse reassures the reader that the world will ‘make some space,’ while López’s dreamy, near-translucent mixed-media illustrations thrum with playful joy. You're in good hands with Leah as she guides you through the pain and joy of her unfettered childhood. A beautiful and inclusive story that encourages children to find the beauty in their own lives and share it with the world. Sometimes when you leave an organisation, that’s when you realise what’s been going on and see what you were really up against.

This, although interesting, could have been a book in itself and I could see that some of it could be relevant to this book. I was expecting a more practicle guide on how to manage my own mental health, but you know what they say about assumptions. An easy to read book on why looking after your mental health is important and how to go about doing so. In contrast to the enmeshment Beth experienced, Laura lived in a family that set boundaries so far away from themselves that each person moved in a separate circle, so disconnected that Laura seemed to be growing up all by herself. My intention in writing this book is to inform you of the importance of boundaries and empower you to use them in your everyday life. By insisting that she think and be a certain way, he prevented her from developing emotional boundaries. It also explores how we can set out our work places so they are positive mental health spaces, and set the example as leaders re being open about our own well-being. Writing style, again this may be personal taste but rarely a paragraph goes by without multiple exclamation points being used; this is something that personally grates on me.However, if you feel uncomfortable while reading a particular story—especially if it is a story that closely resembles your own—it may be a good idea to pause your reading and process your feelings with a therapist or trusted friend.

I'm not sure if this book is for those in the early stages of self reflection around their mental health. If the breach is severe enough or if the invading organism is toxic or hostile, the host organism can die. And that sometimes, when we reach out and begin to share our stories, others will be happy to meet us halfway. From recognizing the impact of internal and external influences to learning support mechanisms, Begin With You offers you key strategies that will lead to a rewarding life and career. What i got was an insight into Petra's own childhood, and how they navigagted their own mental health.
